When Courtney moved to Chicago, she broke one of her biggest rules. Don’t date someone who lives in the same building.
Let’s face it. Some rules are meant to be broken. And Courtney is glad she broke this rule because had she not, she would have never gotten to know Steve. The two met while living in the same apartment building when Courtney first moved to Chicago to work in advertising.
It was on their fifth anniversary that both of their lives would change again. Steve planned a fun date to the Chopping Block in Lincoln Square so the two could learn to cook together. In the past, neither made a big deal out of their anniversary, so when Courtney received gorgeous flowers at work before dinner … she panicked a little because she didn’t a gift for Steve.
So she ran to the store before dinner and picked up something he would surely use …. socks and underwear. Courtney handed over her gift once they were both back at home …. making a joke out of it as he unwrapped his very practical gift: we are an old married couple now.
And with that que, Steve got down on one knee and told her that he loved the last five years together, and he wanted to add five more years to forever.
How cute, right?!?!
I spent a Monday morning with Courtney and Steve … and it was a morning full of laughter and love. Seriously, these two were cracking me up all day … between Steve and his GQ poses that he had practiced and their constant laughter, I didn’t want my session to end.
We started our session at the Chopping Block in Lincoln Square. The very spot the two began the night that would forever change their lives.
Courtney and Steve’s only other request with their engagement photographs was that we had some Chicago skyline photos, so I suggested one of my favorite backdrops … Olive Park.
I am in l.o.v.e with this photograph …. fashion models.
Courtney and Steve will promise their lives to each other on the beautiful beaches of Jamaica next April. (hence the adorable pictures of them with their suitcases!)
