It was the annual Union League Club’s summer yacht cruise event, one of the favorites of the year, when members enjoy an evening of cocktails, appetizers and a boat cruise on Lake Michigan.
Elizabeth, a new member, was excited to mingle and meet some new people after recently moving to Chicago from Philadelphia. As attendees boarded the yacht, a friend introduced Elizabeth to Shane. The attraction and chemistry was instant.
Chicago weather altered the plan for the evening and forced the yacht to remain docked at Monroe Harbor. Shane, Elizabeth and two other friends decided to leave the event to grab sushi at the trendy, Sunda. When it came time to leave, Shane resisted the offer to leave with his friends, and instead stayed infatuated in deep conversation with Elizabeth.
Shane swept Elizabeth off her feet, and they have been in love ever since. The two will marry in Philly next year, but first they wanted to document their love where it all began, Chicago.
Three months after they met, Shane was offered a promotion in D.C. Elizabeth and Shane knew they wanted this relationship, so they dated long distance for nearly 14 months until Shane was relocated back to the city and the girl he loves so much.
I was completely smitten with Shane andElizabeth’s outfit choices. They were perfect for the fall colors in Lincoln Park …. and Elizabeth’s vintage belt …. well I complimented her on it about a million times (and I wish it would end up in my closet!).
The November afternoon was grey, and we were worried rain would fall, but the weather gods provided us with a warm afternoon.
Elizabeth and Shane were complete naturals in front of the camera. I mean …. seriously … they are gorgeous.
What I like about Shane is his quiet confidence. He has a presence that is strong but kind.
How cute are these two? I mean …. I couldn’t get enough of their love.
Elizabeth is a natural beauty. She radiates happiness and exudes a sweet and fun personality.
Sweet moments like these make me fall in love with my job over and over again.
Just before the light disappeared, we headed to North Ave beach. The sky was dark and moody, but it made for some really cool photos as the Chicago city lights turned on.
We had all of North Ave beach to ourselves.
It seems fitting to end on this photo as it sums up Elizabeth and Shane’s love for each other and the Windy City.
