As a kid, I loved the book fair and the library. Like …. a lot.
Every summer I would breeze through those reading challenges that rewarded you with a Great America pass with ease. It could be my obsession with checking things off lists or adding a gold sticker to the chart …. but I was a reading addict.
It turns out that as an adult, I still have a love affair with learning and books, and I make it a point to read as many business books I can get my hands on each year. (I just found out from reading Captivate that one of my core values is knowledge — total game changer for me!)
Below are my 7 must-read books for creative entrepreneurs. Read these babies, take notes …. you are basically hacking your way to an MBA.
Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk is one part inspirational messaging and one part practical insight on how you can rock social media to grow your tribe and expand your biz.
Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown helps you evaluate what things you really *need* to do. If you feel like you are working so much and getting nothing done, this one is for you, friend.
Find your Why by Simon Sinek dives into your purpose and life mission to help you stand out in your industry and understand what motivates you.
E-myth Revisted by Michael E. Gerber helps you understand the perks of setting up processes and systems when you are a soloprenuer so that as your biz evolves you can easily pass off tasks, hire team members and grow.
4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris breaks down how online business can work and how you can streamline and outsource so you can work less and play more. Isn’t that something we are all chasing after?
Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller was a total gamer changer for me and how I looked at what words I was using in my business. If you only read one book this year, this MUST be it.
Captivate : The Science of Succeeding with People by Vanessa Van Edward opened my eyes on how to interact with people and make them fall in love with you fast. It blew my mind, and I tell everyone I know about this one.
What business books are your favorites?
Tell me below so I can add them to my MUST-READ list this year.
