When your high school graduating class is over 800 people, it’s pretty much impossible to know everyone in your class. In fact … you usually don’t know everyone. It was the exact unknowingness that began Lisa and Patrick’s relationship.

Lisa was at her church youth group her junior year of high school when she spotted Patrick in a Barrington High School t-shirt. She had never seen him at school, and she intrigued. The two started talking and hanging out and in less than 2 months after they met … they were girlfriend and boyfriend. It was Patrick’s thoughtfulness that she adored. Like the time he covered her bedroom in balloons … asking her to their junior prom. Beyond sweet.

Distance seperated these two when Lisa headed to ISU for college, and Patrick headed north to Marquette. However throughout it all, their relationship continued to grow from young, high school sweethears to an adult love.

Patrick realized he couldn’t live without Lisa while on a Carribean Cruise with friends …. so come Valentine’s Day … he prepared to ask the most important question of his life. He placed Lisa’s beautiful ring inside a bag of Hersey kisses. What Patrick didn’t plan for was that bag would never get eaten in one sitting. So when Lisa only grabbed a handful, he had to have her go looking in the bag for something sparkly.

I spent a warm Sunday afternoon getting to know these two … and it was beyond fun. We started our session where their love story began – Barrington High School. They both laughed about how weird it felt to be back there … but I have to admit, it made for some super cute photos.

Lisa has such a big heart and is honestly one of the kindest people I know. My little brother and her have been friends for years. It was such an honor to be asked to photograph her engagement and wedding.

Patrick is a little more reserved … taking the backseat in the conversations. But it is clear that Lisa makes him so happy. They compliment each other perfectly.

Patrick’s mom loves to horseback ride, and she owns three gorgeous horses. I was beyond smitten that they could be apart of our the engagement photos at Patrick’s childhood home.

How cute are these two?!?! Smitten.

These two are beyond sweet. Lisa and Patrick currently live almost 6 hours apart, so when they are together … they really enjoy their time together.

I can’t wait for November when I get to document these two again. And don’t worry Patrick, by then, I promise I will stop calling you, Pat. I have been practicing. :)
