Still pinching myself because this stunning University Club of Chicago wedding for two incredible grooms is in print in Modern Luxury Chicago! Michael and Michael two planned their Chicago celebration all the way from NYC with the help of the amazing Christine Janda Design + Events team, balancing hectic work schedules and caring for their adorable fur baby, Tinos (the most dapper Scottie ring bearer I’ve ever seen ).

Michael G. and Michael M-T first crossed paths at the University of Chicago, but it wasn’t until years later—over coffee in Brooklyn—that their connection really began to take root. Fast-forward to 2023, when Michael G. proposed during a trip to Heraklion, Crete, and Michael M-T reciprocated with a proposal of his own in the Athens National Garden. These two clearly know how to plan memorable moments, and their wedding day was no exception.

Their wedding was a heartfelt nod to the university where their story began, with the ceremony held in the stunning Bond Chapel. We wandered around the campus which was the perfect backdrop for all of their formal photos and brought back memories of their colligate days on campus. Their adorable dog, Konstantinos (or ‘Tinos’ for short), served as ring bearer in a custom Scottish tartan—I mean how stinkin’ adorable is he?!?!

The reception was nothing short of breathtaking. Set in the wood-paneled University Club, the decor featured a blue and mint-green color palette that felt both modern and inviting. The CJDE team knocked the design out of the park – always thinking and creating the most beautiful of details includingByzantine art-inspired bookmark favors. Michael and Michael’s first dance was to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and Toast and Jam kept the party going with the best jams on the dance floor.

Planning a wedding from NYC while balancing busy lives isn’t easy, but Michael and Michael had an amazing team behind them. From their planner, Katy of Christine Janda Design & Events, to their talented vendors, every detail came together beautifully.
