As the warm August sun glistened on Lake Michigan, Zac and Chelsey strolled through Olive Park soaking in the beautiful Chicago afternoon. Their anniversary was just a few days away, however they weren’t going to be in the same state to celebrate it together, so Zac and Chelsey decided they would celebrate it twice : once the weekend before and once the weekend after. Zac planned their date for the first weekend of celebrating.

Zac told Chelsey they had reservations at Navy Pier for lunch (he didn’t), and he suggested they walk along the lake and take in the skyline views of Chicago. As they walked and cuddled, Zac poured out his heart to Chelsey and reminded her of how much he loved her. He promised he would love for her forever and dropped to his knee and asked her to be his wife. And in that moment, their lives changed forever.

Chelsey was so surprised when Zac got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Her reaction was a perfect combination of excitement, happiness, and so much love.

Zac asked me to photograph the proposal, and I couldn’t have been more excited. I love being in on secrets … and I felt special that I could document it for them.

Zac and Chelsey are beyond adorable. Zac planned everything perfectly for this moment. And he had other surprises following the proposal including a surprise engagement party with all their friends and family at the Dawson.

But first, we had a little mini session to document their love.
