Chicago has lots of amazing photo locations from skyline views to gorgeous gardens. But when my clients ask me where to take their engagement or wedding photos, I always recommend these Chicago locations.
(updated : I’m adding more of my favorite spots to this post to you have *all* the best spots in Chicago for wedding and engagement photos — not just my favorite spots so please stay tuned for updated photos and locations coming soon.)
Wrigley Building
address : 400-410 Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611
Fourth Presbyterian Church
address : 126 E Chestnut St, Chicago, IL 60611
This stunning church tucked off the Magnificent Mile has the dreamiest garden. If you love romantic wedding portraits, this spot that is covered with ivy feels like you escaped the Chicago city and traveled to a romantic European garden.
Garfield Park Conservatory*
address : 300 N Central Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60624
Getting married during a cold month or worried about rain? Or just love the look of palm trees, cacti and blooms? Garfield Park Conservatory is such a beautiful spot for wedding photos and it is a great option for rainy or cold wedding days. If you want to use this location, be sure to get a permit at least two weeks in advance.
Alfred Caldwell Lily Pond*
This spot is a hidden gem in the city …. tucked in between the North and South Ponds of Lincoln Park. I love this location for engagements and weddings especially if you feel more comfortable when there aren’t a ton of people watching your photo shoot unfold. A permit is required to shoot here and it recommended (especially for weddings). You can secure a permit for your session / wedding day here.
Lurie Gardens*
The gardens inside of Millennium Park combine a pretty parklike location and city views. They do require a photo permit to photograph here now.
3. Olive Park
If you are longing for gorgeous skyline views, Olive Park is a great spot. This location at golden hour has the most gorgeous light as the sun sets behind the skyline. Plus it is right next to Oak Street Beach.
Art Institute Gardens
Similar to Lurie Gardens, the Art Institute Gardens have a special charm and romance to them that make this spot a gorgeous location.
5. Lincoln Park (South Pond)
Variety is why I love the South Pond in Lincoln Park. Your photos will include the ever-changing-nature of the park AND some skyline photos. This might be my favorite engagement session location because of all the options we have in such a small area.
