When Molly told me she wanted to take her fall family photos in her backyard, I was giddy. Her and her family recently moved to a gorgeous property just outside of St. Charles, and when she sent me videos of their yard, I knew it would make for *the* most special family photos we have done yet.

I mean, their property looks like a gorgeous forest preserve, doesn’t it? I joked that I will be hosting fall mini sessions here in 2021, but I literally might have to because I might have fallen in love with their backyard more than the photo locations I typically shoot. Their property is gorgeous, and her beautiful girls only made the shoot that much sweeter.

I’ve been photographing Mia + Madison since they were babies. So when it comes time for our annual photos, our session is always more about fun + play than standing there smiling at the camera. Because of this, there are always so many sweet, sweet moments in-between (which are always my personal favorites). Some of my favorites from this family session are the images I photographed on film which I just started to add into my 2020 family sessions. It has been a challenge for me to add film into my sessions, but I love being able to hybrid shoot for family sessions, and I can’t wait to do it more next year.
